چکیده

539 Abstract— In this paper, a parameter optimization method of RIO-DC (RED (Random Early Detection) with In and Out-De-Coupled Queues) scheme for Assured Service (AS) in Differentiated Services (DiffServ) is proposed. In order to optimize QoS (Quality of Service) performance of the RIO-DC policy for AS in terms of maximum tolerable latency, link utilization, fairness, etc., we should design router nodes with proper RIO-DC operating parameter values. Therefore, we propose a RIO-DC configuration method and the admission control criterion, considering the allocated bandwidth to each subclass and the corresponding buffer size, to increase throughput for In-profile traffic and link utilization. Simulation results show that RIO-DC with the proposed parameter values guarantees QoS performance comparable with the RIO scheme and it improves fairness between AS flows remarkably.

A Fluid-Based Model of Time-Limited TCP Flows in a DiffServ Environment

Abstract — The Differentiated Services (DiffServ DS) architecture allows IP networks to offer different QoS levels to different users and applications. In this architecture, routers in the core network offer the same Per-Hop Behavior (PHB) to all the packets classified as belonging to the same class at the edge of the network. One of the most important standard types of PHB is the Assured Forwa...

Empirical study of buffer management scheme for Diffserv assured forwarding PHB

The IETF Differentiated Services Working Group has recently standardized the Assured Forwarding (AF) Per Hop Behavior (PHB). RFC 2597 recommends that an Active Queue Management (AQM) technique be used to realize the multiple levels of drop precedence required in the AF PHB. The most widely used AQM scheme is RED (Random Early Detection). There are several ways to extend RED to a Multilevel RED ...

How to Make Assured Service More Assured

In this paper, we study why the current assurance services (AS) architecture with pro lers/markers at edge routers and with queue management mechanisms (RIO) at core routers cannot achieve throughput assurance and fairness. Based on the ndings of the simulation study, we propose an enhanced version of the time sliding window (TSW) pro ler, called the enhanced TSW (ETSW). We also design two enha...

A Fuzzy Based Three Color Meter/Marker for Diffserv Networks (RESEARCH NOTE)

Differentiated Services (Diffserv) which was proposed by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), is a scalable and robust model for providing the end-to-end QoS. In the Diffserv networks, metering mechanisms are used to measure traffic stream. The single rate Three Color Meter (srTCM) [1],which was proposed by IETF,‏ meters an IP packet stream and marks its packets either green, yellow, or red....
